After a brief trip to Sebastopol, we stopped for lunch at Willie Bird Restaurant in Santa Rosa. It's one our favorite spots in the area. Their free-range turkeys are raised locally on a farm just 6 miles west of the restaurant.
The restaurant proudly serves The Willie Bird Special (a.k.a. Thanksgiving on a Plate) - sliced warm turkey breast with mashed potatoes and old fashioned stuffing, smothered in our homemade turkey gravy and served with cranberry sauce on the side.
In addition, you can have other turkey inspired classics such as the Turkey Tenders, Turkey Stroganoff, Turkey Cutlet, Turkey Parmigiana, Turkey Steaks and my fave the Turkey Fried Steak.
Our lunch set up included a delicious cup of Turkey Rice Soup, made fresh daily.
They also serve a wide variety of turkey sandwiches- steak, smoked breast, hot open-faced- and turkey burgers. And if turkey isn't your thing, they have beef and seafood options as well...but you might as well skip this place, because having anything but turkey is pointless.
A kid-friendly, kitschy slice of Americana, the Willie Bird Restaurant is a throwback to the 70's. It offers affordable meals, cheap (strong) cocktails and friendly service.
