After my first taste, I can confidently say it is real cheese! In fact, it is quite good. Sharp. Nutty. Great on a cracker. Probably makes fantastic mac + cheese. This cheese is going on my holiday gift list.

cougar gold
As I mentioned earlier, our neighbors can bring some truly odd food to the block party- the platter of pickled garlic and artichokes from years ago comes to mind. In that same category is canned cheese. This isn't any ordinary canned cheese, mind you. This is Cougar Gold white cheddar from Washington State University. At first, I was highly suspect that this couldn't be a good thing. I mean it's cheese in a can? Is it even real cheese? Is this anything like Velveeta?
